Yumi: Designing a Digital Ecosystem for Well-being

Yumi.Network is a digital platform designed to enhance workplace well-being through behavioral nudges, social interactions, and data-driven insights. The primary goal was to create an ecosystem where employees can engage, improve their professional habits, and strengthen workplace relationships. Yumi leverages behavioral economics, AI-driven nudging, and peer-to-peer interaction to drive meaningful engagement and professional growth.

Designing a Digital Ecosystem for Workplace Well-being to improve everyday life of coworkers,

The best way to build the future

The challenge was to develop a seamless user experience (UX) for both web and mobile applications, ensuring a balance between scientifically backed insights and an engaging digital interface.

Problem

The modern workplace faces several challenges:

Lack of engagement: Many employees struggle with motivation and professional growth due to limited feedback and recognition.

  • High turnover rates: Without consistent support, employees may feel disconnected from their teams.

  • Data fragmentation: Companies lack a centralized system to track and measure employee sentiment, behavior, and improvement.

The Yumi.Network initiative aimed to solve these problems by integrating AI-powered nudges, interactive feedback loops, and an intuitive user experience to foster a more engaged and productive workforce.

Research, Insights and CRO

The development followed a 10-week agile roadmap, emphasizing

Research & Define: Identifying user pain points through extensive interviews, surveys, and workplace studies.

  • Ideate & Prototype: Creating wireframes and low-fidelity prototypes to test different behavioral nudge interactions.

  • Test & Assess: Conducting usability tests and A/B experiments to refine the experience before final development.

We analyzed leading well-being and productivity apps like Headspace, Nudge, and internal HR tools, identifying gaps in:

  • Community-driven engagement

  • Real-time, AI-powered nudging

  • Workplace-centric behavioral tracking

A total of 20+ in-depth interviews were conducted with HR managers, team leads, and employees. We gathered over:

  • 70+ "Jobs to be Done" insights for nudging features.

  • 90+ behavioral data points for improving workplace interaction.

This research guided the feature set, onboarding process, and engagement mechanisms.

To maximize Conversion Rate Optimization (CRO), we:

  • Streamlined the onboarding process, reducing cognitive load.

  • Implemented a progressive disclosure approach, revealing features progressively to maintain engagement.

  • Designed interactive dashboards with real-time nudging analytics.

A/B testing led to a 15% increase in onboarding completion rates, and micro-interactions improved retention by 20%.

Engineering & Development

custom design system was developed to ensure UI/UX consistency, scalability, and efficiency across platforms. Once the UX was refined, we executed a structured handoff to the engineering team

The design system had:

  • Typography & Color Palette: Soft gradients and vibrant highlights for a positive emotional impact.

  • Component Library: Reusable UI components for seamless design-to-development handoff.

  • Microinteractions & Motion: Subtle animations reinforcing engagement.

The design system enhanced developer efficiency by 30%, reducing redundant UI builds.

The documentation helped on:

  • Figma-to-React handoff using token-based design principles.

  • API documentation for behavioral tracking integration.

  • QA & Usability Testing before deployment.

The result was a scalable, high-performance web and mobile application with seamless AI-driven behavioral tracking.

By combining behavioral science, data-driven insights, and seamless UX/UI, Yumi.Network successfully bridges the gap between employee engagement and professional growth.
