Whether it’s finding the perfect plant for your space, getting real-time insights into plant health, or even hiring a plant sitter, Flora simplifies plant care with an elegant, user-friendly design.
The project aimed to merge IoT capabilities with a smart, AI-powered plant monitoring system, providing users with tailored recommendations based on environmental data. The integration of Gizmo, a smart sensor that monitors soil moisture, temperature, and light conditions, ensures that every plant gets the attention it deserves—even when its owner is away.
This project was designed with a human-centered approach, ensuring that both experienced plant lovers and beginners can engage with Flora effortlessly.

Problem
Modern life is busy, and caring for plants is often neglected. The challenges faced by users include
Lack of knowledge – Many people don’t know which plants suit their home environment.
Inconsistent care – Forgetting to water, overwatering, or placing plants in poor lighting conditions.
Seasonal changes – Users struggle to adapt their care routines to different seasons.
Finding help – When users travel, their plants are often left without proper care.
Flora set out to solve these problems through smart technology, creating an intuitive, AI-powered assistant that adapts to each user's needs.


Research & Roadmap
To build an intuitive product, Flora's development followed a research-driven process
User Interviews & Surveys – We conducted 30+ hours of interviews with plant owners, beginners, and horticulture experts.
Competitor Analysis – We analyzed existing plant care apps, identifying gaps in user experience and functionalities.
Personas & Empathy Maps – Three key personas were developed to ensure the product catered to a variety of user needs.
Wireframing & Prototyping – Multiple iterations of Flora’s interface were tested to optimize usability.
Usability Testing – Real users interacted with Flora to refine the features before final development.
The research revealed that users needed automation, community-driven engagement, and proactive care suggestions, leading to the creation of Flora’s Smart Plant Assistant.
